　　在一场欢快热闹的万圣节游行派对之中，麦克（尼古拉斯·凯奇 Nicolas Cage 饰）的儿子离奇失踪，在之后的日子里，无数的异象在麦克身边接连发生，似乎在提示着他，他的日子并没有离去，而是在以另一种方式向父亲传达着些什么。　　为了查明事件的真相，找回心爱的儿子，麦克找到了已经分居的妻子克里斯汀（莎拉·韦恩·卡丽丝 Sarah Wayne Callies 饰），两人联手展开了调查。随着时间的推移，夫妻两人渐渐接近了一个令人毛骨悚然的秘密中心，在每一个万圣节派对上，都潜伏着一个邪恶的幽灵，它们存在的目的只有一个，那就是绑架儿童。与此同时，麦克必须在极短的时间内解救被绑架的儿子，否则，他的儿子就将永远迷失在黑暗之中。
