本片承继其一向的轻喜剧风格，故事描述中年男子亨利有一家咖啡馆，但却只有一个伙计，每逢周五，他都要召集家人在咖啡馆聚会。这次的聚会刚好是弟媳的生日，于是弟弟、妹妹和母亲都赶来参加，只是少了亨利的同居女友，原来她与亨利已经分居。但这一点不快却像是一个缺口，渐渐拉开了隐藏在每个家人心中的隐痛和麻烦，他们聚集在一起，心事各异，家庭的气氛越来越紧张和冷淡。
