Jim Street是洛杉矶S.W.A.T(反恐特警组)的一员，在和搭档Brian Gamble执行一次人质解救任务时，由于Brian的失误，人质向政府要求赔偿，Brian一怒之下离开警队，Jim也被 调到别的部门，二人之间的友谊就此结束了 6个月之后，Jim靠自己不懈努力终于回到S.W.A.T。此时的S.W.A.T由Sgt. Dan 'Hondo' Harrelson担任指挥官，有五名队员，并打破了没有女人的规则，出现了S.W.A.T.的第一名女队员——一位单亲妈妈 Chris Sanchez 在Harrelson的指导下，五名队员接受几个星期的严酷训练之后，Jim和队友开始执行首次任务：看管声明狼籍的大毒枭Alex Montel——一个经营贩毒，军火走私，洗黑钱等罪恶勾当的罪犯 Alex Montel被洛杉矶警察逮捕后，仍然打算在引渡之前逃脱法网，他通过媒体许诺：任何能把他解救出来的人将可以得到1亿美元的巨额赏金。为了得到这笔钱，亡命徒们展开了行动，其中包括Jim的老搭档Brian Gamble，S.W.A.T的队员们面临最艰巨的挑战，而关键时刻，队员的变节和上级领导的不信任，几乎将他们逼入绝境

故事讲的是一名代号为稻草人（Scarecrow）的特工Stetson Lee（Bruce Boxleitner饰）在一次躲避敌方追捕的途中将手中的证物塞给了他所遇到的第一个人——正巧路过的家庭主妇Amanda King（Kate Jackson饰）。在摆脱追踪后，Lee找到了King太太要回证物，哪知King太太玩上了瘾，缠着他要帮助他们破案。迫于无奈，Lee只好答应了她的“无理”要求，两个人开始以奇怪的组合进行合作。

The New Avengers

英国ABC摄制的经典间谍剧集The Avengers在整个60年代红极一时，风靡英语世界，时至今日仍然吸引着世界各地无数的拥趸，成为和The Prisoner、Doctor Who等齐名的老牌英国Cult TV经典，而国内也曾在80年代以《复仇天使》的译名引进其中一小部分。The Avengers系列结束10年以后，剧集制作人Brian Clemens和Albert Fennell在70年代创作、拍摄了续集The New Avengers，同样获得相当大的成功，国内在80年代曾以《三个侦探》的不当译名引进。The New Avengers沿用了The Avengers系列的男主角超级特工John Steed（Patrick Macnee），原系列中的美女搭档换成了两个年轻后辈Mike Gambit和Purdy。剧情配合冷战背景，涉及间谍与反间谍、有组织犯罪、科幻等多种题材，很多创意在当时颇有前卫性，因而在70年代重掀Avengers热潮。电视摄像与制作技术在10年间的发展，使得The New Avengers比前作显得更为专业。虽然和如今的好莱坞大片相比，The New Avengers在噱头和视觉效果方面要相差很多，但是在70年代其地位还是相当高的，而在今天作为怀旧经典仍然具有相当不错的观赏性和娱乐性。
