Every year thousands of elephants go on a quest for food and water. On the way they are shadowed by the most dreadful predators.

Kalahari Meerkats (also called Kalahari Meerkats 3D for the 3D release) is a wildlife documentary series by WildEarth, which first aired in late 2012. The documentary follows a group of meerkats called the Gosa as they try to survive in their hostile home. Initially the series was recorded and viewed live via the WildEarth website prior to be compiled into a documentary series. Kalahari Meerkats consists of six episodes, each running for approximately 30 minutes. Filming began in February 2012 and took place in the Tswalu Reserve in the Kalahari Desert.

As the desert dries out after the rain, antelope move away in search of greener pastures, but the bat-eared foxes remain. Their den, a burrow that’s borrowed from the meerkats, provides underground shelter and the foxes wait out the long, dry months, determined to survive. It is a lean time between rains and our bat-eared fox family must outsmart hungry Jackals, Cheetahs and Lions. Their super sensitive ears alert them to predators and help them find food.
