Stan and Ollie try to deliver the deed to a valuable gold mine to the daughter of a dead prospector. Unfortunately, the daughter's evil guardian is determined to have the gold mine for himself and his saloon-singer wife.

The two-man Laurel and Hardy Zoot Suit Band find themselves fronting a scam for "gasolene pills" in wartime oil-short America. They are however soon on the side of the angels helping recover $10,000 for an attractive young lady whose family have themselves been swindled.

At the turn of the century in the Southwest, Brighty the wild burro accompanies his friend, a prospector named Old Timer, on a hunt for gold. A claim jumper robs the pair of their strike, killing Old Timer in the process. Brighty then sets out on a quest -- befriending a mountain lion hunter along the way -- to bring Old Timer's murderer to justice in this drama based on the best-seller by Marguerite Henry.

A little burro is beloved by all the cute wild creatures until he opens his mouth and they hear the horrible braying.
